In Costa Rica, teams from Holy Spirit have worked with the Episcopal Church in Limon and with other groups in a variety of activities including teaching and healing programs, evangelism, and building projects. In Honduras, teams have worked with the local Episcopal Church in church construction, vacation bible schools, and medical missions.
The church has also continued a domestic missions program, leading weekend teaching missions at churches in Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Wisconsin, Maryland and New York. Holy Spirit encourages members of other churches to apply for participation in mission trips and also helps to train inexperienced mission teams going out from other churches.
Besides conducting short-term teaching missions, Holy Spirit also helps to support several long-term missionaries, both domestic and foreign. The missions program is administered by a Missions Board that meets to seek God's leading in planning trips, choosing team leaders, and formulating missions policy.
Our purpose and goals in missions are to give encouragement to others and to the Church, and to show God's love in action. We go where we see God at work, to share Him. We call it the "Showing Up" Ministry - we show up and God goes to work. Scripturally, it is obedience to the call of God on our lives to share Him to the ends of the earth. With the Holy Spirit's empowerment, we go forth in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
If you are interested in mission work and would like to speak to someone about our mission trips, please call (225) 751-2116 or email one of our staff on the Home Page. We would be delighted to discuss this with you.
